Hello all. My name is Sharon this is my brand new blog for the fresh and exciting new letterpress studio, MagnoliaPress.
So this is where I begin telling my wonderful journey of all the lovely paper things that I am smitten about. For a few years I have been collecting old printing tools, metal type, vintage collectibles and plenty of inspiration and have always had a soft spot for paper. So I have combined them both to design and create letterpress stationery for those special moments in our life. For more years than I can remember I have been cutting, gluing and designing with paper, starting with scrap booking, where I have had work published in magazines, and everyday there would be at least something that inspires my creativity. Stationery is a big part of my life, and I enjoy every minute of it!
I would like to introduce you to “Chandler”. He is a 1928 New Style C&P platen press. I imagine that has seen some history in his time, and I often wonder what stories he would tell me. Splotches of old ink here and there, from the days of the old printing techniques. What newspapers did he print for? Who was the printer taking care of him? Together we will create our own story as we make works of art in the MagnoliaPress studio.
